As a former All-American linebacker for the Crimson Tide, Ryans gets an opportunity to coach Will Anderson Jr., Christian Harris, and Henry To’oto’o in the National Football League. He inherited Harris, but Ryans selected Anderson and To’oto’o during the recent NFL Draft. Anderson has been superb in training camp, making a seamless move from outside linebacker to defensive end. Ryans loves the explosiveness and power Anderson brings off the edge. According to Cole Thompson, who covers the Texans, Ryans said Anderson “never takes a rep off.” The 2021 Heisman finalist gets upset when coaches want him to rest.

Harris, who got taken in the 2022 draft, has been running with the first-team defense. Thompson reported on Ryans seeing marquee improvement from the Baton Rouge (La.) native. It is going to be exciting to watch what Harris brings to the team.

Harris and Anderson started on the Crimson Tide’s 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship defense.
