Tua Tagaovailoa to Ryan Clark: ‘I would appreciate it if you kept my name out your mouth’

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa stands on the field during second half matchup against Green Bay on Christmas.

Tua Tagovailoa sent a clear message to ESPN’s Ryan Clark after Clark criticized his nutrition and gym activity during the off-season.

Clark discussed Tagovailoa on a recent episode of NFL Live when he stated ‘he wasn’t in the gym’ when talking about the Miami Dolphins quarterback’s physique.

Tagovailoa responded when he was asked what he would say to Clark during his media availability.

“He probably knows more about me than I know about myself,” Tgovailoa said. “I don’t know. Ryan’s been out the league for some time. I don’t know. It’s a little weird when other people are talking about other people when they’re not that person. So, I don’t know. It’s just a little weird…I come from a Samoan family. Like, respect is everything. But you know, it does get to a point where, hey, you know, little easy on that buddy because I think we’re pretty tough-minded people, and if we need to get scrappy, we can get scrappy too.”

The reporter later asked Tagovailoa how hard he worked during the off-season.

“I think we all worked hard throughout the off-season,” Tagovailoa answered. I’m not someone to talk about myself the entire time, but it takes a lot. You think I wanted to build all this muscle, like to some extent. Like, I wanted to be a little lighter.
I know there’s a mixture of things that people don’t understand, that people don’t know about, that are talked about that go behind the scenes. So, you know, I’d appreciate if you kept my name out your mouth. That’s what I’d say.”
