Nick Saban provided another update on the status of Alabama’s injured defensive backs Jaylen Key and Malachi Moore during an appearance on SEC Nation this morning.

“I do think both of them have a chance to play in this game, Malachi especially,” Saban said. “He’s practiced a little bit more, and I think Jaylen will be a game-time decision. But those guys offer us a little more stability in the back end and ability to adjust all the things that you’re talking about because they do a really good job.”

It was reported by ESPN that Moore is expected to take the field against the Longhorns today, but as Saban mentioned, Key’s status is a bit more cloudy.

Prior to leaving with injury, Key performed well in his Crimson Tide debut recording four total tackles and an interception against Middle Tennessee. If Key is unable to go, Kristian Story is listed as the next man up.

Alabama is set to kickoff against Texas at 6 p.m. with ESPN on the call.
