Steve Sarkisian says Texas ‘must throw haymakers’ versus Alabama

Steve Sarkisian returns to Bryant-Denny Stadium for the first time since 2020.

He is in his third season as head coach of the University of Texas and looking for his first signature win.

Sarkisian came close to upsetting the Crimson Tide in 2022; however, he fell short by one point. Longhorn fans want to believe he’s the guy for its program, but it starts with Saturday’s matchup against the Crimson Tide. He shared a message with the ESPN College GameDay panel that he hopes reached his team. Sarkisian said the focus for Texas is ‘having the right energy and juice.’

“We want to be aggressive and attack in all three phases,” Sarkisian said. “We can’t throw jabs, we have to throw haymakers.”

Texas wants to challenge Alabama early and often. Confident teams that have attacked the Tide in the past have been victorious inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Texas A&M (2012) and LSU (2019) are schools that came out swinging against Alabama and landed punches that won the game. A lot of hype has been involved for this contest, but does Texas have enough firepower?
