If someone asked an average Texas fan who it wants to play for a College Football Playoff National Championship, it would probably test its opportunity against the University of Alabama.
The Longhorns earned a 34-24 victory over the Crimson Tide at Bryant-Denny Stadium in week two of the college football season.

Nick Saban has a different team now versus then, but Texas fans want to prove its team can beat Saban twice. Many want a rematch between Alabama and Texas; however, an insider for the Longhorns offers a different perspective about how a Big Ten school matches up better with Texas. Chip Brown, who covers the ‘Horns for 247Sports, sees Michigan as a better matchup for Texas. He discussed it on The Next Round Show, displaying how the Longhorns do not want a second meeting with the Tide.
“People don’t understand how well [Jalen Milroe] is throwing the deep ball…
He’s got 16 touchdowns and 1 interception on passes 20+ yards this year.
He has a better deep ball % than Michael Penix…”@ChipBrown247 @AlabamaFTBL pic.twitter.com/NT4nI0octa

“I think most Texas fans think it is hard to beat a team twice in the same season,” Brown said.
“I think they would say give us Michigan. Michigan loves to run the football. Jalen Milroe … People don’t understand how well he is throwing the deep ball. I got some numbers here, but it is ridiculous. He’s got 16 touchdowns and one interception on passes 20+ yards this year. He’s got a better deep ball percentage than Michael Penix. Alabama has been playing really good football. I think Texas matches up better with Michigan than they do trying to get a second win over Alabama.”

Milroe, a sophomore, has grown since his outing against Texas.
He has accounted for 2+ touchdown passes in seven matchups. Milroe has also rushed for 10 touchdowns since the game versus the Longhorns, including a career-high rushing scores against LSU. The native Texan won several honors at Alabama’s awards banquet, including permanent team captain. He would put on a show if he got the chance to face Texas again, but Milroe is focused on Michigan right now. We will see how Texas fares against Washington, but Brown feels Michigan is the better matchup for the ‘Horns than Alabama.
