Atkinson is a 2026 five-star prospect out of Grayson High School in Georgia. He is considered by several recruiting sites to be the nation’s No. 1 linebacker prospect.
The five-star previously expressed a desire to meet and learn more about Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama staff.
“They have a legacy over there,” Atkinson said. “The head coach (Kalen DeBoer) up there, he got some big shoes to fill, but I think they’ll get it done. I’m excited to go up there and meet the new staff.”
The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder physically looks the part of a future high-level college football linebacker. He moves well in space when playing off-the-ball at linebacker, but he can make plays when playing off the edge. He has impressive speed and can close on the football fast.
