One area of interest for the Alabama football program this offseason has been the kicker position. Who will replace Graham Nicholson and take over the kicking duties?
The name that keeps circulating is redshirt sophomore Conor Talty.
In speaking with Tide 100.9’s Ryan Fowler on Thursday, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer was able to confirm the reports that Talty has had a strong showing this spring.
“He’s up there knocking them through. It’s definitely the best I’ve ever seen from him.”
DeBoer also added that Talty made 4 of the 5 field goals he attempted during Thursday’s scrimmage. His lone miss was from more than 55 yards out.
Talty was Alabama’s placekicked last season. Interestingly enough, Talty did not attempt a field goal during his first two seasons in Tuscaloosa.
The Illinois native should see more opportunities in 2025. Over the course of the last two seasons, Talty playing sparingly due to Alabama having two fifth-year seniors at kicker in Will Reichard and Graham Nicholson.
Based off interviews and intel, Talty has done everything well enough to assume the starting role for the 2025 season. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how he performs on A-Day on Saturday.
