Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt has Alabama football ranked as the No. 9 team in college football port-spring.
Klatt has Penn State ranked as his No. 1 team in college football. Texas is at No. 2 followed by Ohio State at No. 3 with Oregon and Clemson rounding out Klatt’s top five.
The Fox Sports’ college football analyst and commentator shared he has Alabama in his top ten because of the Tide’s returning talent and the reunion of Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Grubb in Tuscaloosa.
“I struggled with this team quite a bit,” Klatt said. “I did not know where to put Alabama. I just didn’t. Looks like Ty Simpson is the leader to be the starting quarterback. I like Kalen DeBoer. I thought it was gonna be better last year. Was it just not a fit with Jalen Milroe and Kalen DeBoer? Maybe. Simpson’s a former five-star. He’s been waiting three years for this chance. Ryan Grubb, by the way, who was with Kalen DeBoer for years. And then last year went to the Seahawks with Mike McDonald to be their offensive coordinator is gone now, and now he’s back with Kalen DeBoer, and every time these two guys have been together, DeBoer and Grubb, lights out offensively. And in particular, the quarterback play. Think of what Michael Penix was able to do at Washington for those two years that they were up there. On defense, LT Overton, Tim Keenan on the defensive line, Deontae Lawson at linebacker. They still have Ryan Williams on the offensive side, one of the best players in the country. They’ve got (Germie) Bernard out there. They get Kadyn Proctor. He’s now a three year starter. They got their center, Parker Brailsford. He’s in there. So now I’m like, okay. I think I’m in. So, they’re going in my top 10.”
The Crimson Tide prepare to have a strong summer ahead of opening the season on the road against Florida State.
