Kalen DeBoer outlines where he thinks Alabama will be from health standpoint entering fall camp

Syndication: The Knoxville News-Sentinel

Alabama football is expecting to be at full strength from a health standpoint this August when the Crimson Tide return to the gridiron from summer break to open fall camp ahead of their 2025 season, according to Kalen DeBoer.

This expectation comes after the second-year head coach and Tide coaching staff elected to rest a number of key contributors on both sides of the ball this spring. These players include a mix of notable veterans recovering from injuries in Deontae Lawson, Keon Sabb and Domani Jackson, who were all sidelined. Kadyn Proctor, Justin Jefferson and James Smith were all limited in practices as well.

These measurements taken are why DeBoer and company now find themselves banking on this nucleus returning post summer.

“There will be a group and there are too many as a whole that is still coming off of last season, missed some time during spring ball, but there will be a pretty good group that is now in full swing and just a few guys that have what we refer to as limited or limited contact,” DeBoer said Tuesday at the SEC Spring Meetings in Florida. “There’s not contact right now, but limited and just kind of monitoring their situations as they go through the month of June. By the time we hit August, we feel very confident that we will have everyone back and ne ready to roll at the level we need to. Guys are pouring everything into it right now. They are almost over the top with the work they want to put in because of the desire they have to want to be great and have an amazing season. Coming off last year, want to prove some people right and prove some people wrong.”

With expected reinforcements coming, it’ll be interesting to see how the Alabama roster shakes out in August when the Tide suit up for fall camp.
