At one point in time, Julian Sayin was the future of the Alabama quarterback room, but shortly following the retirement of Nick Saban, he is on track to help Ohio State repeat as national champions.
Sayin is currently the favorite to win the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback job this fall, and Saban detailed the characteristics that make him so.
“Julian’s a great young man and I think he’s getting bigger and stronger,” Saban said when speaking with 97.1 The Fan. “He’s got really good touch, really good accuracy and good judgement. He’s a really good young player.”
Ohio State was led to a championship last season by Will Howard who has gone on to be selected in the NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Throughout Howard’s run, Sayin got time in four games completing 5-of-12 passes for 84 yards and one touchdown.
The statistics won’t catch anyone’s eye at the moment, but the former five-star recruit has continued to build on his characteristics in the offseason to position himself as the starter.
