Former Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham was recently a guest on the “Bussin’ with the Boys” podcast, and he talked about his recruitment and almost committing to another SEC school.
“I actually told him (Ed Orgeron),” Latham said. “I can’t remember what game it was, but he called me and I was just like, ‘Yeah man, I think I’m going to commit to LSU.’ I told him that.”
Latham never actually committed to the Tigers. He decided to wait until he could visit campus and take in a game or so he thought.
“I wasn’t able to go on any official visits because of COVID,” Latham said.
The former five-star offensive tackle seemed to think his college career would have gone in a different direction if COVID had not been a factor.
“Had COVID never happened and had that flight never like turned around, I honestly think I might have committed to LSU,” Latham said.
The flight that Latham is referring to was a flight he was scheduled to take to Baton Rouge for an official visit. However, before the plane was able to land, it was rerouted to Tampa due to a blackout at the landing airport.
Now, Latham is entering his second season with the Tennessee Titans. It is interesting to think about how Latham’s career would have panned out had he signed with LSU as well as who Alabama’s starting right tackle would have been in 2022 and 2023.
