Alabama football’s freshman tight end, Kaleb Edwards has not had to wait for his opportunity to get on the field. The freshman has played early and often this season with Danny Lewis sidelined with an injury.

Kalen DeBoer confirmed Wednesday Lewis will be out again against Wisconsin on Saturday. This gives Edwards another opportunity to have an impact as a freshman.

The former four-star caught his first pass against Louisiana-Monroe and it was for six. Austin Mack found the 6-foot-6, 264-pounder in the back of the endzone in the second quarter.

Edwards was considered a complete tight end recruit, who had experience lining up attached to the line of scrimmage and out wide at Oak Ridge High School. One of the biggest strengths of his game was how explosive he was out of his stance when he lined up attached to the offensive line. He was also one of the better route-running tight ends in the 2025 recruiting class. His ability to be a mismatch in coverage and his reliable hands made him a big get for the Tide.

Edwards will be a player to watch throughout the 2025 season.
