Alabama football’s wide receiver, Isaiah Horton pulled in his first touchdown as a member of the Crimson Tide from a quarterback he is very familiar with in Ty Simpson.

“He was my high school 7-on-7 quarterback,” Horton told reporters earlier this week. “Me and Ty have been locked in for a minute now, and that’s kind of the reason I’m here. I believe in Ty. I know what Ty can do, and I know his ability.

Horton transferred to Alabama from Miami after the 2024 football season. Alabama was an attractive landing spot to him because of Simpson.

“He was a big part because that’s the guy who is going to be throwing me the football ,” Horton said. “I got to have a relationship with him, and I had that. It was already there.”

The wide receiver pulled in 56 receptions for 616 yards and five touchdown in 2024 with Cam Ward as his starting quarterback. Ward was drafted as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Horton says he trusts Simpson just as much as he trusted Ward.

“The biggest difference I just say experience,” said Horton. “Cam Ward had experience. Ty is starting to get experience, but I trust Ty as much as I trust Cam.”

The 6-foot-4 massive target feels the trust between him and Simpson is mutual.

“That big guy that can go up and get it,” Horton said when asked how he think Simpson sees him. “Whenever it is time to bail out and make a play, Zay is down there somewhere.”

Alabama will look to get Horton more involved in its offense in the future.
