Alabama hasn’t been a stranger to tense moments this season.
The Crimson Tide leads the SEC with 16 fourth-down attempts, converting 10 of them for a respectable 62.5% success rate. Alabama has also seen its opponents attempt nine fourth-down tries, allowing them to convert on five occasions (55.56%).
Last weekend’s win at Missouri featured a few do-or-die plays on both sides of the ball. Alabama went a perfect 3-for-3 on fourth-down attempts, converting on crucial moments in the fourth quarter, including a 2-yard touchdown pass from Ty Simpson to running back Daniel Hill with 3:16 remaining.
Alabama was less successful when it came to getting Missouri’s offense off the field, allowing the Tigers to go 2-for-3 on fourth downs. However, the Tide came up with a big stop to deny a fake punt while clinging to a three-point lead with roughly seven minutes left in the game.
Here’s a breakdown of the six fourth downs Alabama was involved in during its 27-24 win against Missouri.
