Alabama football officially ruled out multiple players ahead of its first-round playoff match against Oklahoma.
LT Overton, Kevin Riley, Kameron Howard, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., Kameron Howard, Jeremiah Beaman and Jah-Marien Latham have officially been ruled out.
Overton missed the Crimson Tide’s last game against Georgia due to an illness. All the other players listed as out have been out for multiple weeks.
The Tide’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack recently discussed how the Tide would make up for Overton’s absence.
“But certainly Jordan Renaud, you’ve seen Keon Keeley,” Wommack told reporters. “We’ve even moved in certain packages, you’ve seen James Smith play the bandit field position. ”
“And then from a pass rush standpoint, which you asked about, I don’t know if you noticed, we’ve been doing this for six, seven weeks now, but putting Yhonzae Pierre over there a little bit, and then putting one of those other Wolves in there from a pass rush standpoint. So, we’ll continue to find different personnel groupings. I think that’s my job. We’re not reinventing the wheel in terms of what we’re doing defensively, but who goes in what places and how we move those guys around. I mean, to me, that’s a big piece of what I do here on the backend of the season.”
A pair of Alabama tight ends in Josh Cuevas and Danny Lewis are listed as questionable.
