Following his historic national championship victory, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti shared where the current king of college football had the rest of the field ranked in final coaches poll ballot of the season.
Cignetti’s ballot had heavy representation from the Big Ten with eight total representatives within the top 25 with the SEC having the next most teams with seven. There weren’t many suprises within Cignetti’s top four programs which were represented by Miami, Oregon and Ole Miss who were the final four programs in the College Football Playoff. But rounding out the top five was Ohio State who the Hoosiers defeated in the Big Ten Championship Game 13-10 in one of its tightest games of the season.
Perhaps the ranking that will raise the most eyebrows is where Cignetti placed Alabama. Cignetti placed the Crimson Tide at No. 12 right behind Iowa who did not make the College Football Playoff. The Hoosiers crushed the Crimson Tide at the Rose Bowl 38-3 while only defeating the Hawkeyes 20-15 back in September.
