Former Alabama quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa is continuing his professional career in the UFL.
Tagovailoa, who had recently been a part of the IFL with the Massachusetts Pirates, has now signed a contract to join the Houston Gamblers in the UFL according to a release by the team.
The younger brother of Tua Tagovailoa, Taulia joined the Crimson Tide in 2019 after an impressive run at Thompson High School. Tagovailoa would play one season at Alabama where he completed 9-of-12 passes for 100 yards and one touchdown.
He would transfer to Maryland the following season to join former Alabama offensive coordinator Mike Locksley who had a strong relationship with the Tagovailoa family. This is where Tagovailoa saw his success take off in college football as he would go on to play four seasons with the Terrapins. By the end of his run he would become the program’s all-time leader in passing yards (11,256), passing touchdowns (76), completions (955), pass attempts (1,424) and yards per game (274.5).
Tagovailoa would also lead Maryland to three straight bowl wins in the Pinstripe Bowl (2021), Duke’s Mayo Bowl (2022) and Music City Bowl (2023).
After his college career, Tagovailoa had tryouts in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals but was unable to make either roster. He would instead have stints in the Canadian Football League and European Football League.
Tagovailoa now joins a Gamblers roster than includes another former Alabama players linebacker Christopher Allen.
