Cedrick Simmons is expected to be in Tuscaloosa this weekend for an official visit with Alabama after earning an offer from the Crimson Tide last week.
Simmons is a 2027 wide receiver out of Selma High School in Alabama. He is currently considering Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Purdue and West Virginia. The in-state recruit is going into his upcoming Alabama official visit with hopes of learning how he could fit with the Tide.
“I want to get to know the coaches and see how I could fit in the program,” Simmons told Touchdown Alabama.
Auburn was the first SEC program to offer Simmons. Derrick Nix, who is Alabama’s wide receivers’ coach, was Auburn’s offensive coordinator at the time. The pair has been building their relationship with more intent since the spring.
“He loved me as a player the first time he saw my highlights,” Simmons said. “We have a great relationship, and he believes he can develop me as a man and a player.”
At 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, Simmons is an explosive wide receiver who can be dangerous with the football in his hands. He is also an athletic wideout who has no problem rising to go and get the football in jump-ball situations.
The new Alabama target had more than 2,000 receiving yards last season.
