This 6-foot-3, 315-pound Alabama native has a great chance to be breakout force for Tide

From the very moment Touchdown Alabama put eyes on Will Sanders as a prospect before the Crimson Tide extended an offer to him, it was clear Sanders had the makeup of a future high-level collegiate offensive lineman.

He was already 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds but certainly did not look as big due to the way his weight was proportioned. His frame mixed with his mobility and agility made it clear that the Crimson Tide would not let the Alabama native leave the state without a fight.

Sanders’ film at Brookwood High School in Alabama was just as impressive. He was a dominant and intense run blocker who looked like a runaway freight train when he was called upon to pull and lead block for ball carriers. It was quite evident he would make his bones at guard for the Tide the moment he verbally committed to Alabama.

After not playing as a freshman, Sanders forced his way onto the field as a rotational piece on the offensive line for the Crimson Tide as a sophomore during the 2025 season. He made the most of his limited snaps.

Sanders played along the offensive line in ten games last season for the Tide. However, he only played more than 30 snaps against Vanderbilt in an SEC game. He still managed to rack up 15 knockdown blocks in that limited playing time, displaying his ability to finish blocks is well intact. Four of those blocks came against Vanderbilt.

Unfortunately for Sanders, he missed spring practice with an injury, but his injury did not stop Kalen DeBoer from telling reporters Sanders remained in the mix to start on the offensive line.

“You guys know that Will Sanders is not in there right now,” DeBoer said about who he likes at offensive guard for Alabama after Friday’s scrimmage. “Obviously, he would be thrown into the mix with his experience and ability.”

Sanders updated his health in May during an appearance on “The Gary Harris Show,” and he said he was expected to be ready to go in August.

“It definitely was rough missing spring,” Sanders said. “I feel like the spring is a big developmental piece in football. I never stopped wanting to get better, so that was really rough. But the staff around me and my teammates definitely helped me keep my head down and keep working just to get to a position where I can get ready to go.”

The Crimson Tide revamped its offensive line after the 2025 season. Adrian Klemm was hired to lead this group. A lot of new faces were added to Alabama’s roster along the offensive line. Sanders was among the carryover from the staff changes, and it has put him in a position to start at a guard spot this fall.
