Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell was excellent in his first start with the Tide on Saturday afternoon.

The rising star had his talents on full display in his debut as the Tide’s starter. Russell was able to settle down and play at an extremely high level following the first drive of the game, and the quarterback appeared to be comfortable despite starting at Bryant-Denny Stadium for the first time.

Russell took a moment to comment on the atmosphere at Saban Field following Saturday’s victory, as the sophomore claims he was unfazed by the pressure throughout the entirety of the matchup.

“I mean, I went to Duncanville High School, so it’s been an atmosphere for me., Russell said. “Pressure is a privilege, it wasn’t pressure but the atmosphere was great. And we are going to be having way bigger atmospheres longer down the road. I’m not going to say it was crazy for me to play in this atmosphere just because I play football. I go out there regardless of how big the atmosphere is, just playing football.”

Russell recorded 342 yards and one rushing touchdown in the Tide’s 48-10 win over East Carolina. The sophomore will more than likely be playing in a hostile environment this weekend in Lexington, and Russell will need to remain unfazed on the road against Kentucky.
