Alabama football is 5-2 after losing to Tennessee in Neyland Stadium on Saturday. With this in mind, does the Crimson Tide still control its own playoff destiny?

The loss officially put the Tide’s playoff chances in jeopardy, and another loss could doom Alabama’s playoff hopes.

Three two-loss teams made the playoff last season. Alabama was the only three-loss team to make the field after losing two regular-season games and falling to Georgia in the SEC Championship. Seven two-loss teams made the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff in 2024. Clemson also got in with three losses after winning the ACC Championship.

The Crimson Tide is currently tied with Utah for the seventh-best chance to make the College Football Playoff at 49.4 percent, according to the AllState Playoff Predictor.

If Alabama wins out and does not make the SEC Championship game, the playoff predictor has the Tide’s chances to make the playoff shooting up to 99 percent. In every scenario, the predictor suggests Alabama will be in the playoff if they win out.

Alabama will return to action against Texas A&M on Saturday. The Tide will then be off on a BYE week before facing LSU on Nov. 7. Vanderbilt will host the Tide a week later on Nov. 14.

Auburn will travel to Alabama to end the regular season on Nov. 28 after Chattanooga takes on the Tide in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
