Alabama will need to respond this weekend following an embarrassing 26-10 loss on the road in Knoxville last Saturday.
The Crimson Tide were extremely underwhelming on both sides of the football against Tennessee. Alabama recorded just 201 total yards on offense, while Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop exploded in the Vols’ backfield for 159 yards and two touchdowns.
Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer recently took a moment to comment on how the team has responded in practice this week following back-to-back losses. DeBoer believes constant feedback early in the week will ultimately go a long way for the team as a whole moving forward.
“Yeah, it’s about really feedback.” DeBoer said. “Feedback first of all early in the week is always important. Win or lose. It doesn’t matter what happens. The coach’s job is to give the feedback and be real. I think that’s where it starts. I think when you understand what happened, and you kind of bring it together and dial it in, you understand what the focus needs to be and what the plan needs to be moving forward. Again, you don’t try to make it overcomplicated. You just focus on the best energy, attitude and effort that you can bring. Challenged the guys to be great teammates, and what our goals are — understand what our standard is — and make sure we’re shooting for that. We evaluate that after every single day of practice and understanding the challenge again moving forward. It’s not just the next day of practice. It’s everything in the afternoon, from the nutrition, to doing things right off the field, to getting the treatment they need to be at their best the next day. You just keep stacking those days. We’ve talked a lot about stacking plays — you do that, you do the stacking of the moments throughout the course of the day and that’s where you end up with the improvement that we need.”
DeBoer and the Tide will host Marcel Reed and the Texas A&M Aggies at Bryant-Denny Stadium this weekend. Alabama simply cannot afford another loss this season following their recent two-week skid, and the team as a whole appears to be focused on cleaning up their mistakes moving forward.
