Alabama kicker Conor Talty has looked like an entirely different player this season opposed to how he performed throughout 2025.

Talty is a perfect 10/10 on field goal attempts and 32/32 on extra point tries over the first seven weeks of 2026. The kicker had an extremely underwhelming season with the Tide in 2025, but Talty has since bounced back and has played a critical role as Alabama’s starting kicker in year two.

Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer recently commented on Talty’s success this season. DeBoer claims the offseason kicker battle between Talty and Lorcan Quinn played a key role in each of their success over the last seven weeks.

“Competition brings out the best in you.” DeBoer said. “And that’s one example where you got two high end guys, coach Nunez did a really great job at recruiting and retaining, I guess when you look at each of them. Doing a good job of letting them go at it back and forth, and they did it in a great, healthy, competitive way, and really made each other better. You can see what Lorcan continues to do, you see the explosiveness in his leg on kickoffs. Seeing those guys appreciate what they all bring to the table and seeing them work everyday, you love that about our team.”

Quinn transferred to Alabama from Marshall in January and was widely regarded as one of the top kickers in the Sun Belt Conference last season. The duo has been extremely consistent across the first half of 2026, and DeBoer credits each player’s competitiveness towards their success this season.
