Kiffin feels Tide looks like old Alabama: “I was hoping they probably weren’t this good”

Lane Kiffin feels this year’s Alabama team looks like the ‘old Alabama’ from a talent perspective.

Kiffin, who once served as the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator under Nick Saban, should be really familiar with how an ‘old Alabama’ team looks.

The LSU head coach gave his initial thoughts on this year’s Alabama team on Wednesday during the SEC Coaches Teleconference.

“These guys really are loaded,” Kiffin said. “They look like the old Alabama teams: really long, fast receivers, really special, unique defensive players. This is gonna be a really big challenge for us to prepare really well and play really well.”

Kiffin described the Crimson Tide as the most talented team the Tigers have faced this year. He said he was really impressed with Alabama’s defense.

“Reminds me of the old Alabama defense, guys that can make plays on the ball and length and twitch, and to be honest, I was hoping they probably weren’t this good. That’s gonna be really challenging because we really have not played a defense like that this year. No disrespect to the other defenses, but these 11 guys look different than the other teams we played.”

Alabama will travel to take on Kiffin and LSU next Saturday in Baton Rouge.
