How has Alabama kicker Conor Talty responded to first misses of the season?

Conor Talty missed a pair of field goals against Texas A&M after making 10 straight.

Talty started at kicker for Alabama during the 2025 season. However, after an up-and-down year, Talty was pushed in fall camp with competition alongside Marshall transfer Lorcan Quinn. He was able to beat out Quinn and once again earned the Tide’s starting kicker role.

The Chicago native had his worst performance of the season against the Aggies on Saturday. He was 1-of-3 on field goals, missing from 36 and 42 yards out. Talty did make a 47-yard field goal.

Kalen DeBoer was asked how Talty responded to the misses.

“I know he’s disappointed, and he’s been through it, and he’s not perfect in practice through eight weeks and fall camp, too,” DeBoer said. “There’s a response every day in practice and the confidence that gets built and knowing what your mindset has to be to respond. That’s on another level when you’re in the game, and each kick is its own kick, so you can’t sit there and think about what you did right or wrong. You just gotta go trust and believe that you have the skill set, and just get your mind in the right place, and be confident to go kick the next one, and so, you know, I saw him in practice today go out there and execute all his kicks, and thought he looked really good again.”

Talty has an opportunity to get back in a groove during the Tide’s BYE week,
