Through the first eight games of his career, Mac Jones has answered the call as the starting quarterback of the New England Patriots. After being labeled as a low ceiling quarterback during the 2020 NFL Draft process, Jones has stepped in right from day one in New England and has led them to a 4-4 record with its playoff hopes very much intact.
His play so far has impressed many and one analyst who has loved watching Jones play is former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer who made an appearance on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd to praise the former Alabama quarterback.
“He plays the position at a very, very high level. It’s professional quarterbacking,” Dilfer said on Monday. “When you see these other young guys, they’re trying to figure it out. There’s a lot of streetball to it. There’s a lot of wild plays and a lot of shake-your-head plays. You see very few shake your head plays with Mac. He’s playing the position, especially with his eyes, as well as a seven, eight, nine-year vet”
Dilfer went on to praise his decision-making and ability to digest the Patriots’ offense and said that his potential is through the roof.
On the season, Jones has thrown for 1,997 yards, nine touchdowns and has completed 68.1 percent of his passes.
