Charlie Strong is back with the Crimson Tide as a defensive analyst.
He spent 2021 as an assistant head coach and assistant linebackers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL) while being the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the University of Miami last year. Strong, 62, is the latest tough-minded individual that Nick Saban chooses for his new staff. He served as a defensive analyst for the Tide in 2020, helping the program to an undefeated College Football Playoff National Championship in a COVID-shortened season.

Strong assisted players such as Will Anderson Jr., Christian Barmore, Christopher Allen, Christian Harris, Phidarian Mathis, Byron Young, Jordan Battle, and Malachi Moore to success. Anderson and Moore made the All-Freshman Team for the SEC and Freshman All-American Team in 2020. Strong’s return gives Alabama a wealth of knowledge defensively with a chance to be creative and simple. He and Kevin Steele, Alabama’s defensive coordinator, will collaborate on some special things for the defense next fall. Strong knows how to excel in the game, winning national championships at Florida and Alabama.
He will motivate players, scheme up game plans to make the Tide better, and hold everyone accountable.
His presence in the program should have the Tide rolling hard on defense again.
