He gave the Tide a tough runner between the tackles, an explosive speedster in space, a smooth route runner and receiver, and a contributor on special teams. Gibbs recorded 926 rushing yards, 444 receiving yards, 258 kick return yards, and 10 touchdowns. The 5-foot-9, 199-pounder brings a lot to an offense and fits today’s back style in the pros. He enhanced Bill O’Brien’s play-calling at Alabama and gave Bryce Young a consistent option. Joel Klatt, an analyst for Fox Sports, really likes Gibbs in the upcoming draft. He builds a case for the Alabama alum to go to a Super Bowl contender like Kansas City.
Klatt said Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid will benefit from Gibbs.
Clyde Edwards-Heliare is not having the success the Chiefs thought he would, and Isiah Pacheco was a good find in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Gibbs is more dynamic. Mahomes has several playmakers to get the ball to, including tight end Travis Kelce, but adding Gibbs would give the Chiefs an incredible check-down option.
We will see how Kansas City goes about its drafting process.
