After four seasons in Minnesota (2019-22) with the Vikings, the former second-round pick of the 2019 NFL Draft signed a one-year contract for the Cincinnati Bengals. Smith joined 2019 Heisman Trophy winner, Joe Burrow, a former standout at Louisiana State University. The two are starting to develop a connection in organized team activities. Cincinnati shared a video clip to social media of Burrow completing a pass to Smith in practice. Bengals fans got excited as they expect big things from Smith on offense.

He missed the 2021 season for the Vikings because of a torn meniscus to his knee, but Smith totaled 91 catches for 858 yards receiving and nine touchdowns in 37 games for Minnesota. He helped Alabama to a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2017 while enjoying his best season in 2018.
