Alabama has a ton of talent, some experience, and a lot of depth in its defensive secondary.

The secondary may be the deepest group the Crimson Tide has.

Several guys can play multiple positions, and Nick Saban is finding the best five to six guys to play. He explained the moving pieces on the back end to reporters after Saturday’s scrimmage at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“We are playing guys all over the place,” Saban said. “Terrion Arnold can play different spots, Kool-Aid McKinstry can play different spots, Malachi Moore can play just about everywhere, and Jaylen Key can play multiple positions. We are trying to develop Tony Mitchell to play multiple positions. We need to have a lot of guys that can do that.”

Saban mentioned Devonta Smith, a former four-star, can play multiple positions.

Kristian Story, a former four-star, can do different things as well. Saban wants these guys to have a core background of information on the position they are playing, but also adapt to moving around.

“We want to have a chance to get the best people on the field,” he said.

“It is the same thing with the offensive line, guys have to be able to play multiple positions.”

Alabama’s secondary should be scary once it locks down a starting job.
