He captured it in 2020 as he totaled 117 catches for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns. Smith took the Crimson Tide to a College Football Playoff National Championship and was selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Smith was a two-time CFP National Champion (2017 and 2020) at Alabama, and he returned to the program to take an ESPN analyst through the legacy of the Tide under Coach Nick Saban for Saturday’s matchup against Texas. The game will be at 6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN and sponsored by Allstate in the Crossbar Classic. Kirk Herbstreit got the opportunity to pick Smith’s mind about the Tide.

He shared the significance of national championships, Southeastern Conference Championships, and what keeps Alabama on the cutting edge each season in college football.

Alabama escaped the Longhorns with a 20-19 victory in Austin (Texas) in 2022, but it looks to dominate the ‘Horns at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Steve Sarkisian wants to join Jimbo Fisher and Kirby Smart as the third former Saban assistant to defeat him.
