Former Michigan player says Wolverines “have nothing to worry about” when it comes to Alabama

An alumnus of the University of Michigan truly believes the Wolverines will wipe the floor with Alabama.

Taylor Lewan, an NFL free agent, is a former No. 11 overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He played nine seasons with the Tennessee Titans as an offensive tackle, but spent five years (2009-13) with the Michigan Wolverines. Lewan is one of the most decorative players in Michigan history — capturing two first-team All-American honors (2012-13), and twice earning Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year (2012-13). His team got hammered by Alabama in the 2012 Cowboy Classic at AT&T Stadium; however, Lewan sees Michigan as being better than the Crimson Tide now. In a segment from his Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, Lewan said Michigan is “top to bottom” better than Alabama and is “better coached.”

“Here is what I will say about Alabama, when it was first announced myself knowing my past traumas of dealing with Alabama when Alabama was a dynasty, when they were real, I was like ‘damn, I hope that does not happen again,'” Lewan said. “I have watched the film of USF … I have watched some of these games. Let me tell you right now if you are a Michigan fan, we have nothing to worry about. Michigan is better put together, they are tougher, they are stronger, and we are going to 34 dive right up that ass in the Rose Bowl.”

Lewan said Michigan has been statistically better in the third quarter this season.

He feels like the Wolverines will be able to run the ball a lot on Alabama. Lewan has even placed a bet with former Alabama standout, Mark Ingram. Ingram, a 2009 Heisman Trophy winner, looks forward to seeing what the Tide does against Michigan.

Alabama is not the same team now versus when it played South Florida.

Lewan is highly confident, but we will see if it back fires on him.
