There is the saying that little things sometimes matter the most. Well, that could certainly be the case this weekend inside Tiger Stadium.
In Alabama’s two losses, penalties and turnovers were crucial factors in determining the outcome of the game. Against Vanderbilt, Alabama turned the ball over twice. Against Tennessee, Alabama turned the ball over twice and was penalized 15 times for 115 yards.
The same thing can be said for LSU. The Tigers have lost twice and have been deterred by penalties and turnovers. In week one against USC, LSU turned the ball over once and was penalized 10 times for 99 yards. In week nine, LSU turned the ball over twice and was penalized five times for 35 yards.
Another thing to factor in is both of Alabama’s losses have come on the road. Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer is 0-2 in conference play on the road. Will the third time be a charm for DeBoer and the Crimson Tide? We will find out soon enough.
Alabama will need to cut out the costly penalties and turnovers if it plans on coming away with a pivotal win in Death Valley this weekend.
