LSU has a lot of weapons on offense, but the Tide is taking a different approach into the game.
Jihaad Campbell, a junior, says Alabama is ‘starving’ on defense. The linebacker shares the team lead for total tackles (66) and has 6.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, a pass breakup, a forced fumble, and an interception. Campbell has elevated his level of play in the last few weeks, becoming a leader the team can depend on.
He spoke to reporters on Tuesday about the defense’s mentality heading into a Southeastern Conference showdown with the Tigers.

“I am not going to lie, we are hungry,” Campbell said about Alabama’s defense. “We are trying to take the ball away. Whether that is a strip, forced fumble, or an interception, whatever we can do to get the ball out of the offense’s hands and into ours.”
Campbell said the Tide’s defense wants to get non-offensive touchdowns.

“If we can score a touchdown on defense, it will be great for us,” he said. “We are starving, we are starving bad.”
Campbell has a mindset that resembles Jonathan Allen, Reuben Foster, Reggie Ragland, Ryan Anderson, and Tim Williams in terms of wanting to score off takeaways. He is prepared to do everything possible this week for Alabama to defeat LSU.
