Alabama & Auburn making final pushes for Thompson 4-Star DB

Junior Tu’upo wants to announce a decision during the last week of this month.

Tu’upo is a 2027 four-star defensive back, and he attends Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. He is considering Alabama, Auburn, Indiana, Oregon and Texas.

The Crimson Tide will host him next weekend for an official visit, and Tu’upo feels he has built a great relationship with the Tide.

“I love Bama for all the right reasons,” Tu’upo said. “They were the first team to see me, especially at the camp when I first came down here. They had eyes on me for a while. I built a long connection and a strong connection with them.”

Texas hosted the talented defensive back for an official visit last weekend, and the Longhorns impressed.

“As far as Texas, I love the coaches over there,” Tu’upo said. “I especially love coach BG (Blake Gideon). I feel like he’s a young coach, has a lot of energy, same with (Steve) Sarkisian and coach (Will) Muschamp. I love Texas. It was just a lot of energy over there. We did karaoke night. That was funny. We went out with players, got around the players, got around the recruits. They showed a lot of love.”

Auburn will look to make a move for Tu’upo this weekend when the Tigers host him for an official visit. Auburn made great use of one of Tu’upo’s spring visits.

“When I went down to Auburn, they had a ton of hospitality,” said Tu’upo. “The coaches showed a ton of interest and treated my family with a lot of love. After practice, I spent a lot of time with coach (Tim) Banks, coach (Alex) Fegan, and coach Buddy (Brusky), kind of just talking football and catching up with each other. I’d say my relationships with their coaches are definitely building.”

Indiana and Oregon have also made significant pushes for Tu’upo.

At 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, the 2027 prospect was a ball-hawking defensive back for the Warriors during the last football season. He displayed versatility while lining up at different spots within the Warriors’ defense. He was exceptional against the run when he was called upon to get downhill and make tackles. He also stood out in coverage with his length.
