Alabama 5-Star QB signee becomes first Tide player to be named National Gatorade Player of the Year

Keelon Russell was named the National Gatorade Player of the Year on Wednesday.

Russell is a five-star quarterback out of Duncanville High School in Texas. The Alabama signee currently has the Panthers still rolling towards another state championship. 

The future Tide quarterback has thrown for 3,874 yards and 53 touchdowns while only throwing four interceptions as a senior.

Russell was the only quarterback the Tide signed during the early signing period.
