The University of Alabama’s Athletic Director Greg Byrne wants to drop the hammer on college teams, who fans storm the playing surface after a win.
The trend of storming the field or court is increasing at what some may call an alarming rate.
Alabama football found itself on the receiving end of three field storms during the 2024 football season.
Byrne feels making a team forfeit the game if its fans and students storm the field will stop the trend immediately.
“I truly believe it — if we said that the home team, if they storm the field or the court, they’re going to lose that game right then and there, that will stop it,” Byrne said.
The SEC currently issues fines when fans rush a playing service.
