Nick Saban is out to help the game of college football get to a better place than its current state by reportedly joining Donald Trump’s Presidential Commission on college sports.

The Athletics’ Sam Khan Jr. was the first to report Saban was going to be the co-chair of the Presidential Commission.

Saban spoke about the commission Wednesday at the Regions Tradition Golf Tournament at Greystone Golf and Country Club in Hoover.

“To be honest with you, I don’t really know too much about this commission, I don’t really know what this commission will do,” Saban said. “I think we know what needs to be done. I just think we’ve got to figure out who’s got the will power to do it. And I’ve learned one thing about coaching through all these years, when you get into a subject like this it’s very complex. It’s probably good enough to talk about it off the cuff so I’ll find out more about it. If there’s something I can do to help college football be better, I’m always going to be committed to do that.”

Saban also went on to share that he isn’t overly concerned about the future of college football and its longevity, placing his focus more so on its further improvement.

“I think there’s always things we can do to improve it, and I know there’s a lot of people out there that are concerned about the direction we’re headed in,” Saban said. “And I also know there’s a lot of good people that can get it moving in the right direction.”

Saban is set to be joined in his co-chair role by former Texas Tech athlete, Cody Campbell, per reports.
