Former Crimson Tide quarterback, AJ McCarron thinks this weekend’s Alabama vs. Georgia game may not be a barn burner.
Alabama beat the Bulldogs 41-34 in one of the best games of the 2024 college football season. The Tide dominated Georgia in the first half with effective play on both sides of the football.
McCarron feels the very reason the Tide were able to slow down Georgia last season is why this game may not be a high-scoring one.
“What changed the game last year was how many turnovers the Bama defense created in the first half,” McCarron said on The Dynasty Podcast. “That’s what swung the game. I mean, Carson (Beck) looked confused. Kane did a great job of pre-snap, post-snap, changing it up. Now, Gunner’s a different quarterback than what Carson Beck is. I think that was, you know, evident last year. I think, again, it shows this year Carson having a great year he’s having so far at Miami and being comfortable in that offense and that offense is looks completely different from the Georgia offense to this year. I think the biggest key in last year’s game was the Bama defense because you created so many turnovers, especially in the first half. You had a massive turnover right before halftime that you were able, I believe, to double up coming out of the second half. There’s so many factors from that sense to where I don’t know if this is an offensive shootout.”
Alabama’s defense has been stifling over the last few weeks in the Tide’s wins over ULM and Wisconsin.
