ESPN updated Alabama football’s chances to reach the College Football Playoff ahead of the Crimson Tide taking on Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

No. 10 Alabama has a 60.9 percent chance to make the playoff, according to ESPN’s FPI. This gives the Tide the 10th best chances.

Kalen DeBoer and company have one of the best resumes in the sport with wins over four ranked teams at the moment. Alabama still has a shot at playing in the SEC Championship game, and it can secure a spot in the game by defeating Auburn.

A conference championship would undoubtedly secure Alabama’s spot in the playoff. Making it to the conference championship and losing leaves plenty of room for uncertainty.

ESPN’s AllState College Football Playoff Predictor gives the Tide a 59 percent chance to make the playoff if Alabama were to make it to the conference championship game and lose.

A loss to Auburn would completely destroy the Tide’s playoff hopes.
