The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the ECU Pirates by a final score of 48-10 on Saturday afternoon.
Alabama secured their first win of the season in authoritative fashion despite a slow start on the offensive side of the football. The Tide’s defensive front looked excellent throughout all four quarters of play, however, and the unit held ECU to just two total rushing yards on the day.
Additionally, Alabama linebacker Yhonzae Pierre hauled in his first career touchdown on a 27-yard pick-six. Pierre was able to record his first sack of the year as well, as the Tide were credited with three total sacks over the course of the afternoon.
Pierre took a moment to comment on his pick-six following the matchup, as the senior claims it was an excellent feeling.
“I mean, it felt good. We kind of called it out or what not.” Pierre said. “One of my guys had the same play, drawback and cover a little too far. I mean, I kind of read the quarterbacks eyes.”
Former Oregon defensive lineman Terrance Green was quick to make his presence known during his Crimson Tide debut as well, as Green recorded a sack in addition to playing a massive role in limiting ECU’s ground game. The Pirates averaged just 0.1 yards per carry throughout the contest, and Alabama’s defensive front as a whole appeared to be in mid season form following their elite showing against a talented ECU offense on Saturday afternoon.
