Former Alabama QB tells why Tide needs to grow up fast on offense

AJ McCarron feels the Alabama offense will have to grow up fast this season after watching the Crimson Tide improved to 2-0 with a win over Kentucky.

The Alabama offense got off to a slow start in the game, and operational issues and penalties plagued the Tide. McCarron said these were all signs that the Tide’s offense has to grow up at a rapid pace.

“This team has to grow from an offensive standpoint quick because you’re about to be in some serious hostile environments coming up in the next couple weeks,” McCarron said on “The Dynasty” podcast. “I think you got to eliminate these pre-snap penalties, this communication issue that we’re having, guys not lining up in the right spot.”

Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb opened his Monday press conference discussing the operational issues.

“The obvious statement is early operation,” Grubb said. “That’s the part we’ve got to keep diving into. Quite frankly, we’ve got to be massively better at that.”

Alabama’s offense will have an opportunity to continue to grow Saturday when the Tide takes on Florida State.
