The Alabama Crimson Tide will be on the road to face one of the hottest teams in all of college football this weekend.
Alabama will face Mississippi State in Starkville on Saturday, as both teams will enter the contest with a 4-0 record to begin the year. MSU star quarterback Kamario Taylor has played at an extremely high level over the first month of 2026, and Alabama’s defense will need to emphasize limiting the superstar throughout practice this week.
Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack took a moment to comment on Taylor’s early success on Monday, as Wommack claims he may very well be the best quarterback the Tide have faced during the DeBoer era.
“I think he is already operating as an elite quarterback in the SEC.” Wommack said. “He does such a great job on the deep throws. He’s got great touch, leads his receiving corps out there which this is a very, very fast group. I think they’ve got multiple guys that have documented ten-two, ten-three speeds whether it was coming out of high school or whatever. He does a nice job in that regard, really clean with his RPO reads and his delivery with the ball. They do a great job of leading people with those RPO’s so that they can create explosive plays after catch. He just has a great feel and a great touch right now, again he is probably as good as we have seen in the last three years at the quarterback position.”
Taylor has recorded 1,377 total yards and 15 touchdowns over the first four weeks of the 2026 season. The talented sophomore has proven to shine both on the ground and through the air to begin the year, and the Crimson Tide defense will undoubtedly need to be at their best when facing the superstar on Saturday afternoon.
