Rising junior offensive lineman Lester Cotton was arrested over the weekend for multiple drug charges (marijuana, drug paraphernalia), according to Kelvin Reynolds of WBRC Fox 6 News.

Per Reynolds, a Tuscaloosa Police Department spokeswoman said officers stopped Cotton at 11 p.m. on Friday.

He was driving a Chevy Tahoe at the intersection of Hackberry Lane and Bryant Drive. Officers smelled marijuana from the vehicle and found both it and other drug paraphernalia. Cotton was charged and with two counts for marijuana possession and a count for drug paraphenalia. Following his release on bond, Saban issued his statement to the media.

“We are in the process of determining the facts in the situation with Lester Cotton,” Saban said via press release. “We will handle any discipline internally like we’ve done in the past.”

Cotton, who enrolled at Alabama as a five-star prospect in 2015, earned five starts while playing in 14 games last season. He saw action at left guard and right guard, despite being Cam Robinson’s understudy at left tackle during the 2015 and 2016 seasons. The Tuscaloosa native is in the running for a starting spot next fall, but this incident could set him back.
