Former Tide players Amari Cooper, Marlon Humphrey return to NFL training camp

Jake Roth - USA TODAY Sports

A pair of NFL teams received good news on Tuesday, as the Baltimore Ravens and Oakland Raiders both returned a quality player to training camp after injuries.

Wide receiver Amari Cooper was back in action for the Raiders, ending a seven-day absentee period since Aug. 3.

Per Raiders’ beat writer Michael Gehlken, the second-year target is sporting a compression sleeve over his left leg.

To follow up a back-to-back performance of 1,000 yards, Cooper intends to build even more chemistry with quarterback Derek Carr.

As a two-time Pro Bowl selection, the Miami (Fla.) native helped the Raiders secure a playoff berth for the first time since 2002. Oakland will host the Los Angeles Rams for week two of NFL preseason on Saturday at 9:00 p.m. (ET).

As for the Ravens, rookie cornerback Marlon Humphrey is scheduled to travel to Miami for his preseason debut on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. He missed a couple of training camp sessions, due to an undisclosed injury but head coach John Harbaugh says the first-round pick is good to go.

Before getting picked fourth overall in the 2015 NFL Draft, Cooper set a career mark in receptions (228), receiving yards (3,463) and touchdowns (31) at Alabama.

He set a single-season record in 2014, accounting for 1,727 yards with 16 touchdowns on 124 catches.

Humphrey, on the other hand, served on defense for the Crimson Tide. A two-year starter at cornerback, he posted 81 total tackles, 13 pass breakups and five interceptions (one score).
