Balanced recruiting is the first step in building a powerhouse football program. Teams must be balanced on both sides of the ball in order to obtain success. In six seasons, Alabama’s head coach Nick Saban has controlled the gamut in the Southeastern Conference.
Alabama is known for its defense, but its offense has started to chirp a little in recent seasons. Though the Tide brought in the No.1 recruiting class in 2014, Saban and company are always one step ahead of the competition. The Crimson Tide is at work targeting prospects for its 2015 class in hopes that it will be productive. Here is a list of players that Alabama is going after on its board for 2015.
Alabama’s Top 5 Targets
1. Daron Payne is a kid from Shades Valley Alabama. Mr. Payne is 6’3″ 344 pounds. He runs a 5.26 in the 40-yard dash. For a guy his size, Payne is light on his feet. He would be a great fit for Alabama. Payne bench presses 420 pounds and he was just a junior when he did that. In his junior campaign he had 65 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks. So you can see why he is at the top of my list.
2. Trent Thompson is a guy from Albany Georgia. He is the number 1 player in the the state of Georgia and would be a big get for the Tide. Trent is 6’4″ 292 pounds. In his junior year for Westover, Thompson had 83 tackles and 12 sacks. Alabama will be in the mix till the very end.
3. CeCe Jefferson is strong side defensive end from Glen Saint Mary Florida. In CeCe’s junior year he had 68 tackles, 48 of those where solo tackles, and 17.5 sacks. CeCe has a quick first step and closing speed. A lot of people see him going to Florida, but I think they may be in for a surprise.
4. Jovon Robinson once was a auburn player and looked to be the future running back for the Tigers. Robinson is from Memphis Tennessee, he plays football for Georgia Military college. In 2013, Jovon rushed 272 times for 2,387 yards and 34 touchdowns. Mr. Robinson is 5’11” 225 pounds. Jovon fits the role of a Alabama running back.
