Nick Saban is the ultimate creature of habit.
From the way, he coaches his team, to the clothes he wears and all the way to his pregame meal, Saban wants everything done his way.
Or as he would say it, “the right way.”
But last week things got thrown out of whack for Saban and Alabama after the head coach tested positive for COVID-19, there had to be some drastic lifestyle changes. Saban immediately quarantined himself back at his home and was not able to coach the Crimson Tide for the first time in 13 years.
On gameday, Saban tried to make everything as similar as he could to his regular game-day routine. He helped with game planning along with the coaches before he could not have any more virtual contact and even put on his game-day suit for the Iron Bowl.
But there was one thing that would change for Saban.
His pregame meal.
“[Terry] wasn’t into that pregame meal stuff and made hot dogs,” Saban said in an interview with ESPN. “That’s my favorite, man, with chili sauce. She makes homemade chili sauce.”
Although it wasn’t within his regular routine, Saban got to enjoy one of his favorite meals before watching his team trounce Auburn 42-13.
