Taking over a losing team is never easy to do, but for Todd Bowles his first year as head coach of the New York Jets got off to a rocky start on Tuesday. Starting quarterback Geno Smith was involved in a locker room altercation with linebacker IK Enemkpail that resulted in Smith sustaining a broken jaw.

This injury will keep Smith sidelined for six to ten weeks. After the altercation the Jet released Enemkpail which opened up a spot on the roster. In a twist, with the open roster spot the Jets signed former Alabama corner Javier Arenas.

The former first team All-SEC selection was apart of the 2009 undefeated Crimson Tide team, and was drafted in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft. Arenas last played for the Atlanta Falcons in 2015, and will look to add depth to a defensive backfield that already has All-Pro Darrelle Revis lurking in coverage.
