He showed flashes of potential throughout offseason activities, but head coach Bruce Arians and the Arizona Cardinals have decided to cut ties from Jacob Coker.

News of this occurred on Monday from the team’s transaction report, as Coker was released due to a knee injury. The former Alabama standout was not selected through seven rounds of the NFL Draft; however, his one year starting under Nick Saban was enough to get him free agent deal.

Coker completed 66.9 percent of his throws for 3,110 yards with 21 touchdowns to eight interceptions in 2015. He was one of the captains on Alabama’s national championship team.
