Christian Miller agrees to four-year deal with Panthers; ready for rookie minicamp

Marvin Gentry - USA TODAY Sports

Of the five defensive players that Alabama football placed in the NFL Draft, three have signed contracts for their respective teams and two will participate in rookie minicamp this weekend.

Christian Miller joins Lyndell “Mack” Wilson and Isaiah Buggs in the money circle, as he was selected in the fourth round (No. 115 overall) to the Carolina Panthers. According to a post he shared on Instagram, the South Carolina native signed his deal on Thursday and it worth $3.22 million with a $703,879 signing bonus via Spotrac.

Miller will pocket a base salary of $495,000 in the 2019 season and have an average annual salary of $813,552.

When it came to his production with the Crimson Tide, the former five-star was one of college football’s best edge rushers last season.

Prior to suffering a hamstring injury versus Oklahoma (Orange Bowl), Miller shared the team lead in quarterback pressures (12) and totaled 11.5 tackles for loss with 8.5 sacks.

The 6-foot-3, 247-pounder has strength at the attack point to bother running backs, while possessing abilities to affect quarterbacks in the passing game.

It already has leaders like Kawaan Short, Dontari Poe and Luke Kuechly; however, the addition of Miller could make the Panthers really dangerous for years to come.
